Carcassonne is a classic tile-laying board game for 2 to 5 players, designed by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and named after the famous medieval fortified city in southern France. On each turn, players draw and place a tile to build out a sprawling landscape of cities, roads, monasteries, and fields, then deploy their followers (called meeples) to claim those features and score points as they are completed. Easy to learn in minutes yet endlessly replayable, a typical game plays in about 30 to 45 minutes.
With simple yet strategic gameplay and 84 tiles that combine into countless layouts, Carcassonne is a perfect gateway board game for families and a rewarding strategy game for veteran players aged 7 and up. This edition is fully redesigned and modernized and includes two expansions, The River and The Abbot, for even more ways to play. A multiple award winner and one of the best-selling modern board games of all time, it's an essential addition to any game night collection.
